Large Fowl / Standard Cornish

Whites

Our large whites descend predominantly from the stock of the late Mr. Ken Herring.  After three years of breeding and selection one bird descended from the birds of Lewis Strait was introduced in order to increase size.  In subsequent years a dark was used as an outcross to avoid inbreeding depression.

These birds have been bred employing rigorous selection for type and size throughout.

Buffs

Our buffs descend from one buff bird acquired from the late Mr. Ally Freirichs.  This bird was crossed with our best whites and top quality white laced reds from Mr. Brent Bryan.  The resulting birds were bred amongst themselves, always selecting for type above all.

Recently we were fortunate enough to acquire additional buff birds from the line of Mr. Freirichs and plan to cross them with our darks and incorporate the resulting offspring into the buff breeding program.

Darks

Our large darks come from a flock of birds purchased in North Carolina most likely descending from the birds of the late Hugh Faulkner predominantly from the stock of the lates Mr. Hugh Faulkner, Tommy Watts or other great breeders in that area.

These birds have been bred amongst themselves employing rigorous selection for type and size.

Blues

Our blues descend from two blue hens acquired from Mr. Bob Smith.  These hens were crossed with our best whites and darks.  The resulting birds were bred amongst themselves, always selecting for type above all.
